Start with comfort around the eyes
The gathered coat should sit without pulling. Ask how much fringe can remain, whether shorter pieces should be blended, and how often the tie needs to be removed and reset.

A top knot can sit above a short puppy cut, a medium body, or a longer flowing coat. Show the whole silhouette instead of discussing the bow alone.

- Choose a rounded, natural, or closely tidied muzzle.
- Choose a compact, medium, or fluffy body direction.

Point to the eye opening, amount of gathered coat, muzzle shape, ears, and body length. The groomer can preserve the idea while changing the tie placement, retained length, or body plan for the dog in front of them.
